We were invited to participate in the 2008 Venice Biennale, Italian Pavilion, directed by Aaron Betsky. Our exhibition was titled “TEN THINGS WE HAVE LEARNED FROM THE CITY,” which consisted of a mural where we showcased these 10 principles associated with different projects and actions by [Ecosistema Urbano]. We used 3D anaglyph techniques to allow the audience to experience the installation in different ways.
Our 10-point manifesto:
TEN THINGS WE HAVE LEARNED FROM THE CITY
- TAKE CARE FOR THE PUBLIC
since we believe the concept of the city is completely linked to the creation of public space - DEVELOP CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM
as an optimistic approach to existing reality in order tocome up with creative solutions - RELY ON LOW-COST
to make big projects with less resources - BRING INSTANT CHANGE THROUGH URBAN ACTIONS
we believe everything is architecture, small actions provoke huge reactions and everything is connected - INTEGRATE THE CITIZENS
into the processes of changing their environment - CREATE OPEN SYSTEMS
in order to allow the development of a changing reality - BUILD NETWORKS
to share knowledge and experiences - REACTIVATE THE EXISTING
as an alternative to uncontrolled expansion - TAKE ACCOUNT OF THE INTANGIBLE
using new technologies as a mechanism to create complexity - KEEP POSITIVE
to be able to change reality
