Client: DAZ – Deutsche Architektur Zentrum
Program: Participation at the Formula X Exhibition Series
Scope: Design and installation of the monographic exhibition Looking through ecosistema urbano eyes
The German Center for Architecture DAZ launched an exhibition series called FORMULA_X in the autumn of 2010. This new format was dedicated to the national and international up-and-coming generation of talented architects. Three offices were selected to present their architectural positions in monographic exhibitions, lectures, and interviews. The focus of the presentation was on the individual design methodology and the design processes of each office.
Ecosistema Urbano was chosen among other international offices together with Plasma Studio and AFF Arkitekten to participate in the exhibition.
Looking through Ecosistema Urbano eyes presented, through a classical 3D optical system, the process and strategies for a selection of recent works.
The whole exhibition came inside a suitcase and a bag. The big pictures on the wall were made of A4 self-adhesive papers, stuck one next to each other. The drawings were made directly on the walls of the exhibition room with markers in two colours (COPIC markers: tahitian blue + salmon red). These colours are compatible with cyan-red 3d glasses, and allowed viewers to have two different points of view depending on the eye they were blinking.
In addition, all citizens of Berlin were invited to contribute their ideas for the city or thoughts about the problems it is facing. This could happen in the physical way, with pen and paper at the exhibition space, or digitally via Ecosistema Urbano´s Berlin version of the ‘What if…? Cities’ website. Everyone could allocate his or her ideas and concerns about a specific place and even upload images to illustrate them. A map of the city gave a quick overview, showing where the problems were, and for which places people had come up with great ideas.
